Saw the SAR helicopter pickoff 2 people from the summit of solar slab, and after that drop off a SAR ranger at the base of Solar Slab gully, where a party appeared to be coming down. 2 separate incidents? Anyone know what happened?

I've seen quite a bit of SAR practice/training runs done in the area. Hopefully it's just that, and not someone badly injured, or worse.

Long story short: 2 climbers, 1 inexperienced, with one rope, out of water, unable to find the BO rap. Got dark, cold, windy and rainy...

Must be nice to have a helicopter ride just a phone call away. Who pays for that sort of thing in Nevada?

I guess it won't be helping these guys, but you can get down from the top with a bit of 4th class scrambling by going under the low arch and back against the summit wall, then down a gully.

In Nevada SAR is run by the sheriff's department (state law). They must have a huge budget for Red Rocks. I assume gamblers pay for it.
