Hey Friends,
We have just opened a used mountain equipment store called The Gear Room in Cottonwood Heights, Utah (2258 E. Ft Union Blvd.) right across the street from Lone Star Taqueria. We've already got dozens of cams/nuts/hexes/tricams, ropes, skis, ice tools, backcountry ski equipment and much more.

We opened a week ago and are still trying to pack this place out with awesome gently used equipment. So come stop by to see the new shop, clean out your gear closet to make a few bucks before the holiday season and help spread the word to all your dirtbag friends.

Looking forward to seeing you in the shop and on the mountain in every season.

I saw your sign on Saturday and wondered what you offered. Good to know you are there. I will stop in and check it out.

Rad place -- they already sold two pairs of my skis and a bunch of my other stuff -- and the owners don't suck at mountain sports either. ;) You could probably nab some beta while you're in there.

Hey Earl,
We're going to be open on Sundays moving forward from noon to 4p.m. and see if people are able to make it in during those hours. Thanks for the feedback.

^^ I second that post! This place really is awesome! Its like showing up to the BD gear swap at 6am, AMAZING DEALS!!

I stopped in today and saw a pair of Dynastar Legend Pro skis w/ Look Pivot bindings for only $220!!!

They also have a selection of Ice Tools and Screws, and TONS of skis/boards, boots, bindings, climbing gear, and outerwear, all for ridiculously low prices!

Well worth a look see in my opinion, check it out!!!

Stopped in the drop off gear on Saturday, and the selection is pretty good for having just opened up. Tons of cams (with slings unlike IME), and 20-50 bucks a pop. Most cams are like 30 bucks!

maybe they should be cutting off those slings...

Awesome to have a solid used outdoor gear store in the area. Some good stuff and prices…bring some cash and spend!!! Need to keep them rolling so I can sell my stuff!

This place is a true jem! Killer gear at amazing prices! If it were a Smoot route it would get three stars

I stopped in today on my way down from Solitude to "browse". Be prepared to "buy", even if you don't know you need anything. Scored a set of BD off-set brass nuts for $20!!! Wishing I had those this summer sketching out on walls in Zion. Nice guys and no doubt, great deals.

It is great to see some competition for 2nd tracks and IME. I think more selection and some price adjustment should eventually happen.

I also think they should cut those slings off the cams.

$42 for a used Camalot C4 + $8 for the re-sling you should do = not a good enough deal

Wait for a 20% coupon from any retailer and it would be cheaper for a new cam!

I would like to thank the mountain community for the outpouring of support that we have received in our first three weeks of being open.

We have had a really successful start and product has been flying off the shelves. Climbing equipment has been extremely popular and we are constantly in need of more gently used equipment. If you have equipment that is not in use sell it at The Gear Room and stoke out some one in the community while supporting a small local business.

and thanks for all the feedback
Chris

sorry mikes,

for the time being we will be posting items on our social media pages but are not selling online. Facebook and instagram are updated with daily deals and specials.

and as far as cutting slings off of cams goes we have found that more people will consign equipment if we don't alter it. I do inspect every piece of climbing equipment that we sell, that being said it is the buyers responsibility to accept the risks inherent in buying used gear and replace the webbing if they deem necessary.

A+ for putting together a fantastic place and amazing deals. I don't know if it would be possible to just "look" and not walk out with something.

Fair enough. Thanks for the community participation and discourse.
