I was just informed that I will be headed to Charleston for 10 days of commercial work on Monday.

Good eats??

Places to raise the spirits??

Is there a climbing gym? (if I can muster the will)

Energy Rock gym is in Charleston. There's out door stuff all around there as well.

The schedule is in the way of my getting outdoors, but are there any bouldering areas nearby? They would need to be walking distance from downtown, for an evenings getaway

HMMM. I wonder if you can get to the new river dries in an hour from Charleston. Since its staying daylight until close to 8 pm, I'd guess you could get away for an evening session. Having said that, I've never done any bouldering at the dries. It is a pleasant drive up Rt. 60. Don't miss seeing Kanawha falls on the way!

Google maps says it'll take you 55 minutes from downtown Charleston to hit the parking area at Cottontop. May want to give the guys up at Waterstone in Fayetteville a shout to make sure all the boulders aren't underwater!

There's a place called pies and pints if your looking for some food and beer

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
