Forest land across the Flats, or somewhere else? If the forest, it's pretty sraight forawrd for access and camping. Not a big deal.

Day hikes galore up in the range, it's hard to wrong in any canyon.

I like the camping up Curtis Canyon Road... it's a bit of a drive, but the views are unbeatable.

Decent free camping at Shadow Mountain and "the Ledges". Drive north thru to the Park, turn right at the sign for Cunningham Cabin, choose from a bunch of different sites in the National Forest. Nothing free within 30 minutes of town that I've been able to find...

Camping:
-Shadow Mountain (Forrest Service)
-Curtis Canyon is gorgeous, generally somewhat less crowded than Shadow (lots of tent cities in both from dirtbags working in Jackson). Curtis is closer to town (slightly), but going to the park requires heading into Jackson first, adding 30 min to anything for the Tetons.

Hiking Day Trips:
--All the standard hikes are worthwhile. Cascade Canyon is a zoo, especially on weekends.
--Hanging Canyon: start from jenny lake trail, pretty buff climber's trail up into the canyon from there. Lake of the Crags is gorgeous, lots of opportunities for scrambling on the Jaw from
--Valhalla Canyon if you're feeling super adventurous. Plan on bushwhacking the first time you go, the climber's trail can be hard to find...
--Many of the alpine lakes are super worthy, large range of difficulty & crowds, from amphitheater & surprise or delta all the way up to rimrock lake (very worthy and a great day, but expect a long day with a hearty dose of bushwhacking)

"Casual" Mountaineering
--E Face of Teewinot (4th / easy 5th DOE and conditions)
--Middle Teton (3rd, long day)
--South Teton (recommend combining with Middle)
--Nez Perce (4th)
--E Face / E Ridge of Buck (hard 3rd with snow to 4th)

Day Climbs
--Classics (can be crowded on weekends): death canyon (snaz / dihedral of horrors, etc); garnet canyon (open book / irene's / ...); Cascade Canyon Area (guide's wall / baxter's pinnacle / no perches necessary / ...)
--SW Ridge or Durrance on Symmetry, Cube Point

Non-Climbing Rest Days
--Canoeing / sea kayaking / paddleboarding on string lake (esp w/ portage to leigh lake) or on jackson lake
--rafting / kayaking on snake (scenic or whitewater options)
--fly fishing (HA like you're gonna get beta =) )
--Tram @ JHMR. Lots of hiking, or use to access climbing at Corbet's Couloir / Rock Spring Buttress
--XC mountain biking: cache creek, gros ventre range, etc
--downhill biking: teton pass, JHMR, Targhee
--horse rides
--wildlife tours (guided or non), GTNP or Yellowstone
--Generally lots of live music around town. The Grand Teton Music Festival is highly recommended if you like classical music
