I'm headed to Potrero later this year, interested in a 70m bi-color for long routes and hassle free raps. I'd like to keep it under 9.8mm, nice handle, hopefully on sale. Suggestions?
The Edelweiss Zen arc 9.6 70m bipattern is a great rope. I got a non-dry and it handles great. I got my off of an ebay store named outdoorsetc. for $130 from $210.
Blue Water, Lightning Pro 9.7 x 70m, double dry treated. All made in the US of A. Bomber piece.
I'm a big proponent of dry treatments, not only because they keep dirt from getting into the sheath and core of your rope and acting like tiny knives sawing away, but because it also lubricates the fibers it helps prevent microtears from occurring as the rope stretches and contracts in use. In summary, dry treatment = longer active lifespan of your rope and a safer rope. Certainly helps me sleep better at night...
