3rd Annual Wisconsin Climber's Party

After a long and hard winter, it is time to welcome back spring and another year of climbing! What better way to do so then by having a party! As a result of a lot of feedback, this year's party will be Saturday, May 17th, 2014 (the weekend AFTER Mother's Day weekend). Climb hard on Saturday and then come party and camp out on the Wisconsin River Saturday evening. Mike's Mix is excited to sponsor this event to celebrate the spirit of Wisconsin climbing and it’s community.

Anyone excited about Wisconsin climbing and their significant others are encouraged to attend (please be over 21 though). This is a great opportunity for the entire Wisconsin climbing community to get to know one another. The party, located on the property of Mike and Melissa Lohre (Mr. and Mrs. Mix) approximately 20 minutes from Devil's Lake, is on the beautiful Wisconsin River, 10270 County Rd Y, Mazomanie, WI (5 miles outside of Sauk City). Camping is encouraged (we have plenty of room) and if you feel inclined, you could bring a canoe or kayak for some time on the river. An island behind the property would make a quieter and more private place to camp.

We will have a grill or two available for cooking along with a couple of half barrels for consumption. Please bring your own food and chairs. We appreciate donations to cover the cost of beer and bathroom.

Please help us get the word out and invite anyone interested in Wisconsin climbing.

Did someone mention beer to be consumed ? Melissa, normally I would be all over it but I,ll be stuck out here in Eldo with only a couple of twelve packs of swill. Have fun and thanks for keeping the spirit alive (fuk-nes ?) Now Puke. Steve S.

The climbing party is this coming weekend!
So, I was at the lake this weekend and ran into 5 or 6 different groups of climbers that I had never met before. Sadly, none of these folks had heard about the climbing party. Now they have. The fact of the matter is, there is an enormous community that climbs in Wisconsin and Melissa and I have always hoped that the party would grow to be something that would bring these folks together. Help bring our vision to fruition and come on out to the party if you are on the fence. Additionally, please share this invite with your friends that might not be invited yet. If you do the facebook thing you can invite folks through the event: facebook.com/events/7621893… Weather is looking good and the bugs haven't come out yet, hope to see you on Saturday.

We'll have to have another party later in the summer 'cuz I won't be getting back to Devil's Lake until June.

Our friends at the Devil's Lake Century Challenge just hooked us up with a quarter barrel of Block Party from Karben4 Brewing for the party! This will help wash down the swill that I will buy for when the barrels run dry:)

The party is tomorrow and the weather couldn't look better, high of 59 and sunny. If you plan on spending the night though, bring some warm clothes (the low is expected to be around 40).
I’m excited to see there are a number of folks coming out this year that I haven’t met, awesome! Here are a couple of questions that I was asked in the last week.
Can I camp? Yes, please do. There is room on the land for hundreds of people (maybe someday we will get that many) and although no one has taken me up on it yet, there is an island behind the house that people could camp on as it is a short paddle across (we have a couple of boats). So, there is no excuse to leave after a few beers, be smart and spend the night.
Food? I have a couple of grills for use but no food. Stop at the Piggly Wiggly is Sauk and grab something to grill.
Beer? We have a quarter barrel of good beer thanks to The Devil’s Lake Century Challenge and Karben4. However, this probably won’t last long if we have a big turnout. I have several cases of PBR, High Life, and yes even Hamms when the barrel is gone. If you are a beer snob though and can’t stomach a PBR, you will need to bring your own. PS, if you aren’t 21, sorry but don’t come to this event. Wait until you are old enough.
Cost? We are doing things a bit differently this year in that we aren’t asking for a donation, it is on us, have a good time. Additionally, please support the companies that have contributed to this party: The Devil’s Lake Century Challenge and Karben4 provided good beer. Give the challenge a go, Melissa and I have done it the last two years and it is a blast. Mike’s Mix (Melissa and I manufacturer, package and sell an assortment of natural food sports nutrition products) paid for the cheap beer, the bathroom and the propane. So, next time you think about buying that Gatorade or something similar, consider buying a Mike’s Mix product. I’m pretty sure that you will agree that it tastes better, is natural and is more economical. Additionally, you are supporting a climber, family based business. Finally, Jon Jungheimershcmidt is providing entertainment for the evening’s festivity. Thanks goes out to John and black diamond for this effort. See you tomorrow!
