What time of year was this taken?
By Craig Blankenship
Sep 26, 2010
This was late Sept. I also took the pic of the clouds shrouding Notchtop. It was the same morning. After we got past pitch three, it starting raining and very gusty, and then the ropes froze. So, we were committed. On the summit, we were blown off our feet, literally. The scariest thing was making the traverse over to the descent gully without being able to belay because of the wind and icy ropes.

Craig Blankenship taken by Kevin Lorda in the descent col. Notice the icicles. The ice made for an interesting rock climb.
