Wut? That's just silly. Have your belayer use whatever they are most comfortable with.

Wrong. Whatever else your arguments, this is demonstrably false. Maybe you don't know everything after all?

Yeah, being belayed by a grigri is just inviting being dropped unless you know the person is old-school competent.

I also rope-solo about 75% of the time. Used a modded grigri for years until the Edelrid Eddy came out. It's vastly superior to the grigri, great with 9.8's, but especially when paired with a Maxim Glider 9.9.

Eddy setup...

Is that a PAS on Healyje's harness? Joe, don't you ever get tired of the "old school trad climber" circle-jerk? No? Guess I better get out my bingo card...

I'm not the one dropping people or being dropped. Until folks start figuring out just what the fuck is required it's a total crapshoot having most folks belay you with a grigri.

Let me help you out there:

Really, it never gets tiring at all when there's this much abject fodder...

Definitely.

That bingo card is very funny. Thanks for sharing.

Me too, though I would make it 'grigri dropping randomizer'.

As people grow old, they tend to become nostalgic for a past that never actually existed.

The sling through the belay device as a "backup" is ingenious. I'm glad to see people pioneering new ways to make a mess of equipment.

as much as I'd love to take credit, the image was borrowed from a thread about southern climbing ethics and was titled "Southern Ethics Circlejerk" Bingo Card!

PS Healyje, if you ever grow tired of Boulder, go to the south. Your old school crustyness will likely be welcomed there. Plus there's plenty of virgin rock for more 5.11 R FAs that you can spray about.

Boulder?! Climbing in Boulder would give HJ an aneurism! The bolts, the young people, the dogging, the Grigri's! Pretty sure HJ lives in Oregon.

Hmmm. Given his "holier than thou" attitude, excess dogma, and some rant about Eldo, I guess I just assumed he was from boulder.

Never long enough, that's why they invented microdosing.

So, you have a bunch of experience lead rope soloing and with an Eddy?

Ah, yes, pretty simple, just skip all the adventure climbing in BoCan.

You sure have a lot of attitude for an 18 year old with a whopping 2.5 years of climbing experience ticking well traveled 5.9 routes.

Dude, if that's the case, could you at least step up to something a bit more entertaining than V1 bashing I've been suffering through so far.

If you are going to say something is wrong at least refer to a reliable source.
