Sadly, it's coming up on that time of year again and the eagle closure is coming up soon. On that note, I want to remind everybody that under no circumstances should you hike above the river during the closure period. The BLM has indicated to us that they have met climbers who went up 'just to check it out' and this is not acceptable. Goldens are super easy to spook from their nests and just hiking (even as far as half a mile away) is enough to do real damage to a nesting pair's ability to reproduce. Being associated with that is the last thing we want as a user group and presents a real threat to access.

For those unclear on the specific parameters of the closure, look here:

Thanks for the reminder, I'd love to get one more trip out there before the closure. Any idea how many hours of sun the main wall gets this time of year?

I wondered how much sun hit does Trout
Creek get too. Looks like bad news for climbers. I'd estimate less than an hour of sun hit today (12/01/2015). None on Dec 20!

12/1: I see. It's more west facing than I knew. I'm psyched to check the area out after the eagle ban gets lifted and it cools a bit. Thank you!

The crag probably gets 3ish hours of direct sun this time of year.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
