I also keep seeing this "onsite" climbing on people's ticklist. Isn't all climbing by definition onsite? Is it even possible to climb a route offsite?

This....luckily majority of the time I don't use a stick clip though. I'll either aid through the section by pulling on the draw or have a stronger climbing friend climb the route for me then I work it on TR. Every project I have had 5.12a-5.12b, I have always worked on TR first, focusing on the crux moves. I have never tried really projecting a climb from ground up till I couldn't do the moves or till I pump out.

Jan, have you never worked severely overhanging routes that can't be toproped?

Ha...it means to successfully lead a climb without falling or taking or beta from other climbers. I guess if you're working a project, you might work on sections "off site" (simulating moves on a practice wall, as the pros do), but an on-sight is to walk up, look at a route, say "that looks fun," and cruise to the anchors.

Yeah, that's an onsight, not to be confused with an "onsite".
