I've not found that to be the case at all. I'd go so far as to say that if a placement is too flared for a cam, it's probably *way* too flared for a hex.

Disclaimer: had a rack of hexes and stoppers long before any cams since cams hadn't been invented yet. Learned to climb in the Gunks, the land of flaring horizontal cracks.

Well, the issue with cams in flares is if they walk, which isn't an issue for hexes. The hex will either be bomber or not set...which one happens is probably going to depend on the exact character of the crack.

You can also stack hexes!
