Does anyone have experience rigging Trango's Rock Prodigy Training Center on a Blank Slate board? The guys at Blank Slate said their board uses bolts, while the Trango uses wood screws. Does that mean I will need to drill new holes into the board?
How much clearance do you have above the Blank Slate board? Using the guidance at this RCTM blog post, I mounted my RPTC board on adjustable mounts so I could take it on/off a board above our campus/training board. This turned out great for two reasons. The ability to take it on and off the board is great and we can adjust the width of the boards for varying body sizes. For these reasons I'd recommend everyone go with the adjustable mount with the RPTC, if possible.
The blank slate has perceptible flex which cause the smallest holds on a hang board to be nigh impossible. I built a wooden frame in a hallway for mine. I live in a apt my ladlord endorsed the design.
Thanks for the replies. I have plenty of room above the board. I like the idea adjustable mount idea, and I'm sure my friends will too when they come to hang. My only concern is how stable adjustable mounts would be hanging on the blank slate board.
Luckily, I'm a hangboard novice, which means I won't be utilizing any small holds in the foreseeable future. I also dig the wooden frame idea. How stable is it? No flex would be nice.
When I get home from Thankh giving I will post pictures.
It's 2 4x4 in post with feet made of 2x4x8 board bolted on. To get it stable I had to put some shims under the feet and put some thin plywood on the carpet for it to rest on. The hang board is on a 5 foot 2x4x8 with metal brackets in the corner. If you wanted to make this system adjustable. You could use a french cleat as a rail along the headboard and the back of the rock prodigy
