Lee Vining ice next week?

trying to get some laps in at lee vining. Heard there's climb able ice. Hoping for Monday or Tuesday next week

Check NOAA. Seems like there will be ice everywhere next week. Temps are dropping significantly.
Who is here from Tahoe area with the desire to check up on Lovers Leap?! :) At times some ice could be formed on it. I think it was climbed once or a few times at best?

I've heard "the line" is sometimes an ice line? That'd be excellent.

Never heard of that forming...maybe could be a challenging drytooling objective

i think people might get a little pissed if you drytool the line...

the climb you are thinkng of is called eyeore's fantasy and it forms a 3-4 pitch ice climb in a shady corner there.

As much fun as it would be. Please God, do not dry tool The Line.

Here is Eyeores Fantasy last January. It was close, probably 2-3 days from fully forming but then it warmed back up.... Hopefully this year.

woah, I wouldn't think it would be even close to be formed last year. I mean everything was bone dry! Was that right after the New Years storm? Few of the first days of January? Silver Strand was climbable than. But Widows Tears were completely absent. Not even the upper pitches formed. Do you live in Tahoe Area?

My photos are dated Jan 5th. There was quite a bit of water running under the ice so we headed to Emerald Bay instead.
