You obviously don't have children... or you are extremely selfish for taking such a risk
It may (or not) be selfish, but free soloing is impressive.
I find myself freaking out two feet above a bomber cam sometimes. Free soloists have really learned the essence of climbing, which is controlling the mind. Regardless of its implications beyond climbing, that alone is impressive to me.
