Pants for snowshoeing

So I'm completely lost in the world of water resistant pants for winter activities. I just bought some snowshoes which I'd been wanting for a few years, but I have no idea what kind of pants to get. I previously had some Patagonia goretex bibs but gave them away as they were too short for my 6'5" body. It seems I would be better without anything insulated as I tend to heat up pretty quickly and already have thermals to layer with, if needed. Anyone have any recommendations? A softshell DWR coated stylehas been suggested, bur I know goretex works okay too.

For snowshoeing I would look seriously at breathable soft shells. Something like the OR Prussik, Rab Sawtooth or any other breathable softshell pant. Snowshoeing is very aerobic and you will want something that vents out well.

And since you'll probably have gaiters on, the length isn't that critical. (You should have kept those Pata. bibs)

Yeah shorter cuff pants for any winter stuff is better IMO. Especially when crampons come into play.

Yup. Unless you like snowshoeing in the rain, you're unlikely to get wet from the outside. Even Pacific NW snow isn't as drenching as rain. It's sweat that will soak you. A lot of the time, I'll just wear light, breathable, quick-drying hiking pants. Maybe with a base layer if it's cold.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
