It wasn't actually touching down, so we had to mixed climb the back which felt like M6-7.

Thanks Josh!

^ Josh - I think you two were the party that was camped out in the white Toyota van when we arrived. How were the upper pitches beyond the rambling gully? First curtain looked chandeliered but fine, I hadn't shaken out the cobwebs yet so we went exploring to get a feel for the area.

Apologies, Colin, I've never been sure exactly which ice flow towards the bottom of Notchtop's NE face is Grace Falls. Given that you were on Hot Doggie, where is Grace Falls in relation (and is it on Rick's photo)?

Rocky_mtn_high:

This guy seems pretty certain which is which.

Anyone been to Loch Vale? Any idea if Mixed Emotions/Feelings or Crystal Meth are in? Or any other nearby routes?

Neat! Any chance there's a setting to make that viewable by us weirdos without a Facebook? I know there are some group Facebook pages that I can see without needing an account, but I'm not sure how that works.

Mixed Emotions/Crystal Meth were not in as of 11/14. Neither was NE Gully on Thatchtop.

Yah, in that photo, Grace Falls is the one in the lower part of the photo, Hot Doggies is the 40m WI5+ pillar in the distance on the bottom of the east face of Notchtop. M6-7 is 5.11 climbing, not 5.6.

There was ice on the top pich couple of weeks ago but I have no ida what the bottom looks like a gamble for sure, the river has basically been off at the dam you can walk across, otherwise I have not heard if the tyrolean survived the summer.

Looking for partners who are willing to take a noob up on some toprope. I am a competent belayer.

Is anything formed up near west Denver or out near Bailey where I live? I need something I can toprope because I don't have screws yet and don't want to have to go to Bent Gate before hitting the ice.

Very warm after the storm, very little ice anywhere. DNF buried and avi prone. Though the skiing was good. Need cold temps.

Hmmm, sounds like my SC friend is going to stay an ice climbing virgin and we're snowshoeing today. I know it's still early, but my brother is coming in a few weeks, maybe something will be formed by then.

Spiral Staircase is in decent shape. Designator is nowhere close to being in-- no real ice to climb in the amphitheater.

Spiral Staircase looks cool, maybe we'll make the drive in the next few weeks.

^ David was that you folks we saw this morning in the Jeep? Nice day for taking the tools for a walk I suppose.

No, ScoRo, we didn't get out there, but we're hoping to in the next few weeks.

I also saw a post on Facebook that Chalk Falls is looking nice, might head there this week with my father in law.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
