Might be down in Utah for thanksgiving for climbing
|
I was wondering if anyone could share with me where to climb and stay down there. What are some good camping areas, shops to visit, what guide book to get, etc. I would appreciate any information. Thanks |

Thanksa hair more specificity might go a long way toward enticing people to help someone who "might" visit a geographic area larger than connecticut for three days... |

Well I want to go to zion park. Or Moab area. I am coming down from Wyoming and have never been to that area. |
|
1) Pick one. That's like saying you're thinking about going to the Tetons or Vedauwoo. Zion and Moab are 5+ hours apart |

Bring yur A game... |

What are you keen to climb? I want to do 10s and 11s in zion. I'm near Zion now, but have no idea what I'll be doing Thanksgiving. PM me |

TON, thanks for the information. We will be down in moab I didn't know zion was so far away apart from each other. Also how is the weather down there usually around thanksgiving. Like snowing? Raining? |

Cold, especially in Moab. Often cold enough to give your tits freezer burn. |

Check out camping on the beach at Lone Rock in the GCNRA (free) and then hitting the Grand Staircase areas of "The Three Amigos", Big Water, Cap Rock City, The Desert Wedding Site, and Hackberry Canyon. Just down the road there are good eats and shopping in Page AZ. |

That is a hell of a sandbag for a 5.9 sport climber Roy. |
|
Maybe...but the camping is sweet and at least there is mountainproject.com/v/marti… If they can read they will stay away from the other...not so friendly choss piles. |

With your climbing strength and the cooler temps, I'd recommend the St George area. Many more options for the 5.9/10 sport climber there and the weather will be quite a bit warmer and a much lower chance of rain. Another note on rain, Moab is all sandstone, so no climbing after a rain. In St George, you can climb on limestone or basalt if it rains. |
