A lady was looking for a child that walked away from her climbing party last Sunday. We saw her down below the sunshine wall as well as a few groups that were looking for the kid. Anyone know if the kid got home safe?

There might be better people to ask about this than, you know, the whole internet

Is there a reward? Six-pack, maybe? (sorry, I couldn't help it)

She was found, safe and happy, playing with other kids in the main camp area. Thanks for concern, and to all that helped find her.

Thank goodness she was found. But I have to say the above comment was just unnecessary and unhelpful. I accept the reality of internet spray, but when there is a serious inquiry with a potential life at stake, I'd like to suggest a little self-filtering.

So you probably won't like the booty joke?

Lost kids = booty gear

You don't want that kind of booty. Talk about high maintenance! You're better off just letting it wander around.

SO then who takes down the old sun-bleached dangerous looking kids?

The rest of the story: She was gone for three hours before the parents noticed. Later found at the feathers with a what's the big deal? attitude.

Were the paremts too busy climbing to watch their child?

I will neither confirm nor deny. An Eastern European family. Maybe have different philosophy in child supervision?

I've lost track of time over there too.

What a disappointment. Too many here have chosen to ignore MP Guideline #1; Don't be a jerk. Since when, whether you like kids or not, has it been appropriate to make jokes about missing ones, or their parents frantic efforts to find them.

The child was missing for probably two hours. The entire time of which the mother and a very few other climbers (thank you very much, again, to those that did help) spent hiking back and forth on three levels of Sunshine Wall between the pit toilet and the lower lot, searching and calling and asking other climbers for information, and to at least keep an eye out.

I'm extremely dismayed by the callousness and racism displayed here and at the crag on that day. The mother was near desperate and terrified. And most people chose to notice her accent, and to criticize their misperceptions of her, her parenting, search efforts and fear, rather than offer assistance.

The missing child was found playing with other children, and unaware how concerned mom and other searchers were. Maybe the searchers should have considered that the child had wandered off looking for playmates earlier, rather than succumbing to their own fears of falls or injuries or the possibility of getting lost on the mesa top. When your kid goes missing, look for possible playmates first, before falling down the rabbit hole of fear. In the meantime, don't criticize or make fun of terrified parents wearing themselves out looking in all the wrong places for the child they love so much.

And finally, remember, what makes our climbing community so much cooler than any other is the inherent and necessary reliance on each other for success and fun and safety.

To those that cared and were concerned, with gratitude, thank you.

How did you find "racism" in this thread?

When using words to communicate to with your children doesn't work you can always rely on the fist and the boot

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
