We are coming in from Texas for the week, but took a detour to J Tree to avoid the weekend rain. Would appreciate a quick report from someone who's local. Thanks!
Very hard to say. It rained quite a bit in Pine Creek and Oak Creek canyon yesterday.

Depends on exactly how much rain fell at the crag you have in mind, how much sun and wind it has gotten since it rained, and the quality of the rock, which of course varies.

Treat everything you read here, including this, as one opinion or one weather observation. Not a statement of fact regarding whether or not holds will break if you follow said users advice.

Anyone know if red rock rained this afternoon? Specially Calico or first, second pullout area..dry enough to climb tomorrow?

I climbed at the corridor this afternoon after the rain came pouring through Summerlin. We worried on the hike in, but the sand and rock were all bone dry. Looks like the rain missed at least the west side of the Calico Hills.

Yes, it did! This is about 3pm yesterday as it was clearing...

it rained. stay off the rock today and perhaps tomorrow. It was a quick rain, but the canyons were surrounded by a wet wall of hate.

Here is a link to the NOAA page that has rain gauge information.

Looks like Calico has had 0.01" in the last 24hrs (as of the time of this post 11:22am)

I heard one "maybe don't climb tomorrow." I will certainly follow the local recommendation. Is tomorrow a casino day?

I was thinking the really sunny crags (e.g. sunny and steep) would be good by tomorrow mid morning since the rain in calico basin was so little. Anyone back me up? Or no go?

The job site I was on gave me a good view of the park. That nasty grey mess seemed to sit on the park for a while before moving right over us. Idk how hard it was raining when it was over the park , but its rained hard enough as it blew over us that it left puddles on the ground (although it only lasted about 15min before moving along) Then the park was in and out of the clouds form the rest of the afternoon.

I might be more stringent than some other people but Id say wait a day.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
