Can't change account settings

If I try to change my account settings I get the following message. I only have one account. Is this a bug?

There is already a user for email address (my-email-address)@gmail.com.
Perhaps you should login instead?
We can email you password if you lost it.
Note you can only have one account per person or email address.

Just to confirm, this happens when you click your name in the top right corner of the web site and then click "Account"?

What is the solution to this? I am trying to change my E-mail address and am having the same issue. Thanks!

We must already have an email address for the new one you're changing it to. You can PM me your new email address and I can fix it up.
