Evolv Cruiser - Cotton???

I'm thinking of picking up a pair of Evolv Cruiser for my new approach shoe. Especially for something I can use to hike with a pack up to an alpine wall (including overnight). I'm wondering if anyone has been out and had them soaked in the rain? Typically cotton isn't the material I want to bring up to an alpine environment. Clearly I'm not going up to the wall in the rain, but hiking in the day before I'd rather not have freezing feet. Thoughts?

Otherwise the La Sportiva Mix looks like a nice choice.

Interesting I see the new FiveTen Guide shoe also is canvas. I've owned a pair of Guides for a long time and they are nice shoes, but always seemed bulky and heavy.

Obviously seeing if either fits my feet will be a huge factor.

You´re kidding right? You´d be better off in a pair of sandals or virtually anything really, I use them and anything more than a light pack in dry weather and your feet would be destroyed.

I have a pair of Cruisers too and putting something like a Superfeet insole in them really helps with the support but it's not going to keep them any drier.

I've used mine for wandering around the crags, climbing multi-pitch up to about 5.8 and for spring ski touring approaches that require walking on roads to get to the snow behind closed gates. All of my uses have been day trips without much challenge for the shoes. I agree that they'd quickly leave you with sore feet if you're carrying a rack plus bivy gear and food in anything but the mellowest terrain.

I'm looking to replace them with a more substantial approach shoe from La Sportiva.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
