I think I may go borrow a friends power washer next time. When you do a fresh set do you set any holds with a route in mind or just go for a nice spread? The last few sets I've tried to set a few hard routes with my full hold selection available, and then at some point I just say f-it and throw holds on the wall with a somewhat even spacing and try to find 'routes'. Half the time I find a fun hard problem and then the next time I climb I've totally forgotten what it was.
About that,,, woooooo can I come to train by you? Awesome job..

I've been a carpenter for 25 years and say the woody is nice solid work, I'd let 6 adults climb on that wall.

Great use of space, I like the design around the door. I will say that when working with trusses up above like you have the best thing to do is run some larger joists(2x8 or 2x10 depending on the span) between and parallel with the trusses and attach to those instead of the bottom of the 2x4 truss chord. The reason is trusses move a lot, so after a season or two there could be damage to the fasteners holding it on or the trusses themselves(or a combo of the 2). Its a bunch of weight on 4 2x4s especially with holds and people on it.

That's intense! Can't wait to see it complete with holds on the wall. Can't even imagine the financial end to that as I know what mine cost and it wasn't my entire basement. Very pro looking with holds on all walls. What are you planning on doing about mats/floors? Keep the pictures coming nice to see more basement designs on here!

Painting after filling and sanding

Other side

Ceiling has tnuts throughout

Recessed can lighting with Phillip Hue bulbs

I went with white to keep it bright and the lights can change it color.

I'm building this for my kids. One four year old and a six month old. We have no climbing experience but it is always something I though would be fun to have as a kid and learn. We just started climbing on it two weeks ago and it is the first thing my daughter ask to do in the morning and night. The tunnels go to their bedrooms where they will have trapdoors to access passageways to the climbing area. These still need to be finished.

That looks awesome!! Good work. The kids will love it for years to come. Both my kids love our gym, for 20 minutes at a time. Love your lighting!!

Now that is smart, good one...

I am currently at the beginning steps of creating my own "woody". The blue prints are smacked together and I have a crew of idiots ready to drill holes. I was wondering if anyone had anything worth saying before I start buying?

Hello. There, if you go to the section School of Rock then go to bouldering then you will find how to build your own training wall, is a pretty good start on how to do it and what material to use, I hope it helps...cheers

In the garage. Can take whippers. 20ft at highest point. About 25ft of climbing through overhang. Needed scaffolding to get the panels up high. I have a lot more holds on now with 95% being Rock Candy! Sick holds!

I climb before work by myself. Anchor at bottom, rope to anchor at top and use grigri. Any suggestions on something less mechanical than grigri? But still ez to lower.

I also want to build in a crack system on overhang. Not sure how exactly yet.

I'm really curious as to what you have the bolts attached to, how solid is it all?
