Corey, you are completely off base here. This thread has been around a lot longer than you have been on MP. It is meant for people to OFFER gear, not to ask for it. (Unless for a non-profit or the like.)

It is a very cool thing and it is irresponsible of you to endanger it. If someone wants to ask, all they have to do is start a new thread.

I mean Appalachian Trail?
Do you even climb? ;-)

What's the deal,Yes actual I do what's weather i climb out not got to do with anything, it's not a big deal if someone asks for something, some of you people act like it's killing someone to ask for a pair of shoes jeezz

And what about the Appalachian trail and what I do there any concern of yours, and endangering this thread, give it a brake why don't you make a never ever EVER ASK FOR ANYTHING we will holler at you thread

Mark E Dixon wrote: Jon is right. This thread is for folks to offer free gear to complete strangers just because they are generous. Bona fide climbing charities are ok too. It's pretty cool. You want to screw it up and be a jerk about it at the same time? Really? If you want to ask for something then do it on your own thread.
Mark, I thought I had seen this corey try once before... seems you are on your second go at him. please, be gentle, but have fun

carry on

Everybody needs to take a leak once in a while too, but it matters a lot where you choose to do so.
Asking (begging) for gear in the wrong thread is rude. I realize you may have no particular stake in keeping MP the great place it is, so maybe you don't care. Some of us do.

Corey snider wrote:And what about the Appalachian trail and what I do there any concern of yours
If you had been on MP for a while you might realize that there are better forums for AT advice. Likewise that the "Do you even climb?" line has been bandied about so much as an insult it has become a joke. The smiley face was a tip off.

Now that I look back over the thread, based on your earlier posts you really should know better. Way past time for you to finally get a clue.

christian martindale wrote:Chill out both of you. You don't have to get so aggressive. Do you how this makes the person who asked for shoes feel. She probably feels bad because of all the controversy one comment made. Let's all take a chill pill and forget the whole thing.
I've got no problem with Anthony. I hope he finds some shoes for his GF, wife, Mom, or himself, whoever he wants the women's shoes for. I don't even care if he's just a fetishist and doesn't even climb. Shoot, he'll fit right in here!

If Corey doesn't come through for him, however, I think he ought to ask in a different thread.

If you think this is aggressive, you should look back over some of the AZ/NM threads. Or stolen project draws, or Yellow Bluff, or ad infinitum.

Any way , to Anthony message me your number and I'll send pictures if you're interested in a pair I'll grab them and ship them to you Friday,

Every time you beg for free gear, God kills a Kitten.
Save the kittens.
Think of the Kittens.

(In total seriousness, there is a right way to enforce the free gear thread, and a rude way. I've done both and it took me a while figure it out. I've still not totally got it dialed yet.)

Kudo's to Corey for doing what your doing. Its pretty cool that he's willing to
1) get the $20 shoes from somewhere 30 minutes away,
2) photo them
3) drop them in the mail
4) escrow the payment process between the buyer and seller.
All for someone he don't even know on the internet. I vote him the Saint of MP.

Kudo's to Mark for trying to keep it clean.

This.
Mark, you're right that Anthony posted in the wrong thread but the way you came across completely diminished the value of what you posted. You can really come across as an asshole, which makes people resistant to consider what you say, which is a shame because you usually provide valuable info.

Mark E Dixon wrote:I realize you may have no particular stake in keeping MP the great place it is, so maybe you don't care. Some of us do.
The message is great, but that doesn't matter because you sound like such a condescending asshole that many will completely disregard what you say.

Let's try to keep this thread about free gear and not an internet pissing match of "right and wrong"

Nobody listens to me anyway, so I'm kind of used to it.

But y'all can keep on arguing without me, I'm going to go outside and yell 'take' repeatedly and hang off bolts! Maybe get scared on the approach trail...

I'm sure all of you guys are pretty awesome people and we should all know this "You have your way, I have my way
As for the right way ,the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist"

I'd still buy your stuff if you'd still sell it to me lol
