Atomik Climbing Holds is Awesome

I just want to give Kenny and the rest of Atomik Climbing Holds some love for going above and beyond when it comes to customer service. I have been incorporating pinches into my hangboard training for about a year. Like an idiot, I didn't do much research on it and just started hanging from the pinches on my hangboard. After about six months I had some pretty steady pain/discomfort in my thumbs. I got a diagnosis of de quervain's tenosynovitis. After doing some research (if you're interested see Eva Lopez's piece here en-eva-lopez.blogspot.com/2…) it appears that training pinches with the wrists bent basically invites this type of condition.

I reached out to Atomik after looking at their Pipe Bomb line as a potential solution. I asked if there was any way to get a pair oriented horizontally so my wrists could remain in their natural position while hanging. I got response within 24 hours and a custom made set of them made to my specifications that arrived at my house within 72 hours. Truly amazing customer service. Plus, these things are beastly! Thanks again Kenny and I would encourage anyway looking for holds or training holds to check out Atomik. Support a small business, a good guy, and get some sick holds. Psyched!

Having been through a similar experience, I can say that Atomik really is the best!

Have to second this. Atomik is awesome!

The majority of holds on my home wall are from Atomik and I really love them.

The other day i had a very small order mixup where I got a sloper set that was harder than the version I ordered(They have a steep wall and normal version of these) and they had me keep the extra set and gave me extra holds on top as well as getting me the original set I ordered.

Really great guys I will be a loyal customer for a long time.

I'm in agreement!

The big ass bowling ball bomb is my favorite, but the pipe bombs are great too. I was also thinking about ordering the ice cream cones.

Anyone pulled the trigger on the boulder wall?

I pulled the trigger on a campus board using all atomik stuff, it's small, but the atomik campus board stuff (including the peg board) is all really awesome stuff!

I have the boulder board in the mail. Gonna set it up as a system wall with Atomik holds. Will report back on the effectiveness. +1 for Atomik customer service. They forgot to include my hardware kit for in the package. I e-mailed them about it and received a response the same day...free upgrade on the hardware kit, no questions asked.

Hey Jeff,

If you get a chance, would love to hear/see some first impressions. Thanks.

The boulderboard is a great product, IMHO. If you have the space, I'd recommend getting the extenders. Its super easy to change the angle, easing it up a bit from the default angle (around 50 degrees) down to around 20 degrees. I'm 6' 3" and I've got room to make 4-5 move problems. Right now I have it set up as a systems board, and it works perfectly for that purpose. The construction is extremely stout, and isn't as much of an eyesore in the living room as something constructed out of wood (at least, anything I'm capable of making, which isn't much). The pullup bar on top is beefy, and has 2 holes in the cross bars that allow you to hang stuff from (right now I have 2 of the Atomik bombs hanging from them).

If you are just looking to boulder for fun, I'd say this may a bit pricey for the real estate that you get. However, this is a perfect training tool to have right outside the bedroom. I live in South Dakota and there is a small gym in town, but the schlep gets old, so this will be perfect for staying in shape over the winter. Hit me up if you have any other questions!

rather than start a new thread I saw this one and thought I would bump it.  I recently got some holds from Kenny at Atomik and found his service and the quality of the holds and bolts to be awesome.  Great company.  Thanks Kenny ;)
