Bailed on a draw at Little Eiger

Hey! So, we had to bail on Persistive Vegetative State at Little Eiger in Clear Creek. We left a draw two bolts from the anchors. If you climb this route and recover it, we would love to have it back.

Unless there was some sort of accident you should accept that the draw is now booty. Especially since it is on one of the most popular warm-ups at that crag. Any sort of bail biner or bail draw is forfeit. Asking someone to return it via MP is just poor form...

I'm sorry. I rescind my request.

Is karma and good vibes offered as reward for return of said draw? A six pack perhaps? You didn't say ...

Last time I climbed Playin Hooky, someone asked for a draw of theirs to be returned that they had bailed on. I recovered it and returned it to them, so I guess I just figured that sometimes you help the community, and sometimes they help you. No matter. It's only one draw anyway.

why did you bail on a whole draw and not a biner?

It was my friend who was climbing and with all the road noise we had no communication. I couldn't tell him to just leave a biner because he couldn't hear me.

^^^^This

I think it's fine to ask for your draw back, booty rules be damned. What are we, pirates? Be this the high seas? Arrrrrrr???

I always figure what goes around comes around. Why not help out a fellow climber if you can?

It's getting to the point where it's cheaper to just yourself beer, and say screw the draws.

I was a liquor store Friday in South Boulder, and most of the sixers were over $10 before tax. Crazy.

And I don't think it's the end of the world to see if someone wants to return your stuff. Finding booty is one thing, but it's not like they are asking to take a dump on your kitchen floor.

But +1 for bailing on biners, not whole draws.

Good luck!

I was under the impression we ARrrr rock pirates.
Recoverin' ye booty from the walls of stone.

Or 'twas just me?

Where I learned to climb, booty is booty, matey. But maybe the climbing world elsewhere is more friendly...?
Good karma points aren't a bad thing, I do suppose.

I was thinking a six-pack was a hefty reward for a single draw. For a lost rope or shoes or something like that, a six-pack would be much more fair.

It's not about the value of the item, it is about the effort to return it to you.

Still, returning your gear is the right thing to do.

Leave him alone. Giving him shit for bailing on a route is funny, yea, but being an enforcer is SO gay! If he meets up with the person that took his draw, he might be uplifting them by helping them accomplish a good deed. And they can climb together! When I first saw this thread, I though "Tough. You bailed. That's life." But, I try to stop myself dead when my mind starts drifting off into negative feelings. Hope you can find something positive from this, dude!

Cara, definitely go back sometime and finish the route. 'Tis me favorite on that wall and has given me grins in the past, and some scares.

Paul, by saying that being an enforcer is gay, is it a bad thing to be gay? A good thing to be an enforcer? Is he happy?

Or are you just an ignorant asshole?

Wow. Climber bails from a draw, asks for her draw back on MP. Pretty simple, really. In between the only two posts that really matter, her post and this post, is what? Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, so they say.

Cara - I bootied a draw from that climb late on Sunday. Identify it and it is yours. You can PM me off line and we can figure out a way to get your draw back. As much as I would enjoy a six pack of cold ones, that does not sound like a fair trade to me. A simple thanks and perhaps karma for the next time I am looking for help from the tribe down the road is more than good enough for me.

Climb ohn, folks, and perhaps a friendlier tone when posting (or better yet, don't post at all?).

Wally
