Hey there!

I'm newer to the area and wanted to get people opinion on what areas in Unawerp Canyon would be good for taking a budding trad climber out on some easy (5.8 and below) routes

Thanks!

Lower Mother's Buttress is good, a good 5.7 trad route (Welcoming Party) and several others in the 5.8-5.10 range. Sunday Wall's got a few as well, but caution that some are a little sandbagged.

Done Otto's. The fin on the last pitch broke off. I think it's in the 10 range now.

The Sun Towers have a few, well-protected climbs in that grade.

Betty and Ray's Adventure on Sun Tower is an awesome 5.6 multipitch
with some really great views.

You might check out Scanners - the third pitch is a bit of an adventure though.

The Access Fund trail gets you to the first pitch of Sweet Sunday Serenade. This is a great 135ft of Unaweep goodness. One 5.8 move down low and moderate there after up to .7 moves work your way up to the belay. There are also a stack of moderate single short pitches at the top roping pile where the trail meets the rock.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
