I see a couple different guide books, any opinion on ''the one'' to get?

The Needles of Rushmore Fixed Pin Publishing, 2012 or

The Needles 2014 by Zach Orenczak/Racheal Lynn

I have and like The Needles of Rushmore Fixed Pin Publishing, 2012. That book covers the climbing around Mt. Rushmore.

For Custer State Park and Sylvan Lake you would need another book. I have one at home, but I can't remember the name, but it's not as good as the book for Rushmore.

The Rushmore guidebook covers all of rushmore and then some, highly recommended. the spearfish guidebook will cover all of the limestone crags, also highly recommended. as for the needles proper, aka custer state park, i would use mountain project as the information in the orzack book can be very unreliable..

The guidebook for sylvan lake sucks. The best one you can find is Darryl Stesser's paperback one and they sell it at Granite Sports in hill city, it's a pretty I of guidebook. Other than that the best option is Touch the Sky or mountain project. Don't waste your money on the nice sylvan lake guide you'll be disappointed

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
