Cragging with kiddies in the Addies

Hey all,

I'm heading up to the Addies this weekend. I'm looking for some good areas to bring kids, maybe for them to climb but maybe not. Ideally, the area would be an easy approach to an area where they could run around without falling off a cliff. Ideas?

Thanks,

Sean (tommy)

Chapel Pond Pass has a lot of easy approaches (Gems and Jewel Wall is 1 minute/100 yards from the road). Worth taking a look at.

Thanks. I'll check those out next time we head up there. Sadly, the house we were renting burned down and we'll probably just do a day trip to the Gunks.

The area is called the Adirondacks, and has been known as such for hundreds of years. Climbers have truncated this to "Dacks" for several years now. I don't like it, but I'll deal with it, old fart local that I am.

But now I'm seeing "Dax"; that's BS. So puhleeze...cut the shit with the "addies", OK?

I have not been back in a very long time
The new guide book:, two (not three ) volumes; pictures and Topos ~ amazing!
I would place it near the Top three guide books I've ever heard of.
the ~Freedom Of The Adirondack Hills~, it is both out-back companion
And bed side staple. It brings smiles and chills.
As well as you and your lost partner to the base of your objective.
And back to the trail head too ( a new Concept in thr Ah'Rondxs, if frmm 'rhunD herrr ) B^>

Out side of Paul Smiths down the road 6 miles (?) down the road if you turn right instead of driving into the Paul Smiths Campus.. . . . .
Is. A place we called Mountain pond with a sandy beach and slabs running to the waters edge it was a magic spot( like so many)
Also, in Saranac is St Regis Mnt if the bolts are SMC half weight hangers, you may want think 43 years old! The hike to the top of St Regis is pretty fun if I remember.
Then there are the more crowded zones that fill with mostly well tempered, tolerant, friendly climbers. Beer walls has a couple of zones, I think. But others here are so much better informed have fun! Go kids go!
youth is spoiled if it is not spent climbing . .
UP!

In an attempt to clarify to avoid confusion - the new guide is two volumes.

It's "please" and has been for hundreds of years. Cut the shit with "puhleeze".

I'm sorry I just get really intense when it comes to that word.
