I'll be visiting Chattanooga to climb and explore Nov 5-7 and need some suggestions (or possibly meet up with someone who knows the ropes in the area) on routes for trad and sport.

There will be two of us. We both live in Colorado and are visiting Chatty for a wedding (I went to college in Chattanooga). We'd like to get out and do some classic trad routes (up to 5.11) and potentially some sport. We have climbed in multiple areas around the states (Yosemite, Indian Creek, etc) although my partner is more experienced and has climbed longer than me.

Let me know if you have suggestions of routes/areas or would like to show us around for a day or two!

Youd be hard pressed not to go to Tennessee Wall. Has everything you're looking for. There are Fall hunting season closures though. Go to seclimbers.org and click the location tab for T Wall. The current hunt dates are usually posted on there.

Thanks Chris! Looks like the T-Wall is closed Nov 6-8 so I will be sure to go there Nov 5.

sucks that T-wall is closed. Spend at least half a day at Suck Creek Canyon and don't miss The Rose. Also, Leda and Lower Leda have good trad and sport, although you have to pay for a day pass. If you like bouldering don't miss Little Rock City which is included in the day pass for Leda. Also check out the crashpad hostel if you need a place to stay.

Thanks Eli for the advice. We are staying at the Crash Pad a few nights. I will check out your suggestions!

oh and if the creek is low enough and you don't mind doing some bushwhacking do Bombs Away at suck creek. You should bring some tricams if you have em for the first pitch in case there is ice in the flake. otherwise a single rack of cams and a set of nuts is more than enough.

bring lots of slingage for the second pitch and some webbing/cord to beef up rap stations if need be. Oh and i'd be interested to hear whether the fixed hex at the start of P2 is still there.

Hey Mary, if you are there for so short a time, then definitely spend a day at TN Wall, tons of classic 10 and 11s. I would avoid Leda as you will be underwhelmed. Suck CK has killer climbing, but most of the good stuff is also closed as it is part of the TN wall hunt closures. Suck CK is best to be guided into by a knowledgable local as routes and entire areas can be terribly tough to locate. If someone can show you where the approach is, then the Upper Passes in Suck Ck are not to be missed, Rockwork Orange, Confetti Fingers, etc. That time of year is also great for sport at Deep Ck for Jug thugging 11s and 12s, or Foster Falls.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
