Using drones to place protection overhead

This is the single greatest development for climbing ethics, ever. Real hardmen DP. The only thing more ethical and spiritual than DP'ing is going at it solo.

Picture this: You come up to a wall, their is a beautiful, unclimbed splitter crack 30 ft up, but unprotectable below. You could bolt it, but that's not ethical, you need to DP it. You grab your trusty drone, a #2 BD and get right to work. You gently load her up with your cam, she's a bit bogged down by the weight, but she can take it. You slowly start to work that cam into the crack. Is it too tight? Will it go in? Your partner exclaims that you should try another hole, but you're committed and you press the cam in further. You're sweating bullets, you can't pullout now, you'll crash the drone. You finally get it in just right, breath a sigh of relief, set your cam, and pull out.

Now you and your partner get to enjoy that crack all afternoon. #RealhardmenDP

Why not just get a mountain goat and train it to place gear. You could even do this on multi-pitch because he can climb better than you.

Surely buying me beers to rope gun the route would be cheaper, even in the long run

Seriously?

Why not just get the drone or goat to actually DO the climbing for you, then, you can just drink beer from the base of the climb??? Or, maybe get the drone or goat to DRAG your sorry-ass butt up the climb? That way, you may be able to claim full credit for "DPing" the climb in the first place? Ridiculous. And who would trust ANYTHING placing ANY gear for you???

"If this wasn't so funny it would be serious!" ..or is it: "If this wasn't serious it would be funny!" ?

In all seriousness, was this posted as a joke?

If it WAS serious, well...how would this differ from any other "style" question, like stick-clipping-the-first-bolt, or "French Freeing", or anything else that doesn't fundamentally change the rock?

BUT...Whadda do when the drones get big enough to haul up a drill, THEN the question becomes "What about drone DRILLING?"....followed, of course by the "Drone Stick-Clip" of the Drone-Drilled bolt!

Ok..lets either go climbing or have a beer, or three.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
