Recommended climbing on my way East to the Red

I am currently on a solo dirtbagging roadtrip out east to the Red River Gorge, and, like a terrible dirtbag, I hate the idea of driving more than six hours in a day. I am just finishing up Wyoming with Tensleep, then was thinking Spearfish next, and from there, I have no idea. Whatever the case, I have at least 2 weeks to make it to the Red.

Any recommendations for Missouri climbing, or elsewhere that would be on my way (ish) eastbound?

Also, because I'm traveling alone, any advice on where to go to hook up with partners would be beneficial. Since I don't have a built-in belay, mini/off-the-map crags will probably be best left to the wayside (unless you wanna come climb with me!)

Thanks for any help,

Ranae

I should mention I'm mainly interested in Sport routes, and lead up to 11's.

Jackson Falls in southern Illinois is a nice spot for sport climbing, and fall is typically great weather. If you're there on a weekend, you shouldn't have much trouble hooking up with other climbers...or post on here for a partner.

Jackson Falls is nice but you should just find some forest land to camp and get yourself to the Red ASAP

I would like to agree with Roger about the Wichitas but it's mostly trad and probably a bit out of the way. If you're headed through Missouri you could hit Horse Shoe Canyon in northwest Arkansas. Lots of great sport routes.

I would have said Devil's Tower and then the North Shore of Lake Superior before heading down to Jackson Falls, then the Red...
But DT and the NS are really pretty much Trad. Fantastic, but trad.

Devil's Lake in WI has some great climbing. No bolts though. So you need to either do trad or set top rope anchors. (Almost everything there can be done on TR). Close to Devil's Lake is Necedah which has sport. It is great, but I wouldn't make a trip just for there.

Also I am looking to get down to the RRG sometime in October here. I am trying to get some friends to go, but not sure if that is going to work. So I might be looking for a partner too. When were you planning on being in the Red?

Jackson Falls in So Ill is great. If you come down to Arkansas, there is tons of awesome sport climbing. you could then feasibly climb at foster falls in chatty or the obed a little north of there on the way to the red.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
