Description Suggest change

Cro Magnon is a huge, secluded expanse of granite boulders backed by an epic, very steep, granite wall about 70 feet tall. The bouldering ranges from sharp to perfect fine granite with triangular ledges. More is to be developed here, bolting is in progress.

Getting There Suggest change

Cro Magnon is approximately 10 miles from Jefferson. Go west on CR 77 and left on National Forest road (844) on Bordenville Cemetery.

Per Chris Meacham: all the boulders are located under the Cro Magnon headwall a couple hundred yards through the woods from the campsite/parking.

Per a Ball: FR 844 is closed to motor vehicles annually from Jan. 1 through June 15 for wildlife protection, but the hike from the dirt lot at the FR 844/CR 77 junction is straightforward. The terrain is mellow so you can pretty much beeline it straight to the crag. Expect about 35 minutes' hike if the road is closed.
