Who is best? Got a bunch of BD turbo expresses that could use some sprucing up this year. |

Haven't tried anice, but Chuck (rocknice2 on MP) @ icescrewsharpening is awesome, CNC work for ice screws that will work often better than when you originally bought them. And no, it's impossible for someone with a file to get such good work. |

i had a nice screw sharpen up my rack last year, great turn around and a great price and most importantly every one of em fired in like a brand new screw. couldn't have been happier and highly recommend them |

And no, it's impossible for someone with a file to get such good work. The only downside is that he can only set up the machines to do 2 large batches per year so check the dates out.Honestly, my concern is that they may be TOO sharp due to the CNC process, and that they'll lose their edge faster and/or get more banged up if/when I hit rock. Same reason you detune skis. That, and anicescrew is $1.50 cheaper per screw. |

You want the edges sharp! You might be confusing sharpness with geometry. You can have a sharp wood axe and a sharp razor. Neither one will suit the purpose. You want the proper geometry and keep a sharp edge on it. |

You don't detune skis to keep the edges sharp, you detune skis to keep them from being too grabby or hooky when initiating and ending turns. |

My poor crampons are SO dull ..... Gotta get on this |

Ouray Mountain Sports has the only official Grivel Ice Screw Sharpening Machine in North America. That's my recommendation!

I'll just say that Jason and I have both gotten great reviews and leave it for you to decide.+1 I'v gotten lots of screws sharpen by this guy, better than brand new! if you are affraid of bottoming them out, use a smaller screw if its too thin get him to make you a super stubby if its even thinner than that run it out like a badass! highly recommended ! |

Griz Guides is a comprehensive and complete sharpening service. One mailing of any and all of your dull ice gear (not just screws) to my shop with typical 1-2 day turn around time. No burned-out screws on the "pencil sharpener" machine, no waiting once a year to get them remilled and shortened more than they need to be. All work done by HAND from a professional that has 20yrs of ice climbing and gear sharpening experience. Plus you can get your crampons and tool picks honed back to razor-sharp condition. Pricing is listed on the printable PDF on the link below. A Colorado based business. |

I'm late to the party, but Charles @ icescrewsharpening.com does PHENOMENAL work. I have been using his services for at least the past 3 years and the results are perfect every time. Truly like new. The only drawback is he does batch runs, but it's always been worth the wait, for me. |
