Hi everyone,

I'm looking to move to Santa Rosa and interested in climbing the local areas. Down for any kind of climbing. Suggestions for housing are also welcome. Thanks!

Hey Renzo,

Easily the two best close places to climb near Santa Rosa are Goat Rock just north of Bodega Bay and Mt. St. Helena past Calistoga.

Goat Rock has some good variety of climbing with top roping on one rock that you can access by a 5.6 route (you can bring protection if you'd like but most people don't). Lots of bouldering there too. One thing that some people are picky about is it can sometimes be pretty foggy throughout the morning until afternoon and the rock can get slightly slick,

Mt. St. Helena has more routes to offer and it's just a matter of hiking up and behind the faces to set the anchors. The Quarry, The Bubble, and The Far Side are the commonly frequented spots along the fire road up the Mt. Definitely worth checking out those two spots.

If you're a grade above the toproping, Salt Point (further north of Goat Rock) has some awesome sport climbing. A little harder to get to but it has awesome views and climbs on cliffs right next to the beaches.

Best of luck! If you let me know when you're able to climb, my buddy and I are always looking to get out so we can all go together if you'd like. Housing in Santa Rosa kinda depends on where you're looking. It's pretty hit or miss with neighborhoods. I live in Rohnert Park, the town just south of SR, but I work in SR.

Hi CruxCrawler,

Thanks for the extremely thorough response!

I'm hoping to be in Santa Rosa by November if everything works out. I'll drop you a line if I'm able to make it up there.

Thanks again and talk to you soon!

Hey Renzo,

There's active Meetup group originally based out of Santa Rosa called Spirit Of Adventure. The group has regular climbs near and far, as well as other fun outdoor activities to choose from.

Check it out here: meetup.com/Spirit-of-Advent…

Cheers,
Lance

Moving up beginning of November now. Anyone have recommendations for finding housing or know of resources for housing? I'm planning on living in my van and will be working a little father north, but will need some place to call my "residence". Happy to work something out if you all know people. Thanks!
