I'll be in Banff National Park for work on Oct 1st through Oct 4th. I would love to get on some sport or trad climbs! I can meet up on Oct 2nd in the evening, can climb all day October 3rd (and drive to whatever crag), and can climb until noon on October 4th. I can lead sport around 5.11a or so and can lead trad around 5.7/5.8 comfortably, and can follow trad into the 5.10s. I have nearly a double rack and a 70 m rope + 14 quickdraws and 6 alpine draws, soon to be more. If anyone is interested let me know! I don't really have much experience with alpine but I would be up for trying some. Let me know and I'll bring ice axes and crampons. Open to any climbing really. Let me know if you're interested!!
As I browse through the routes, I'm thinking that my favorites are: Aftonroe (5.7 sport, 8 pitches); Mother's Day Buttress (5.6 trad, 8 pitches); Cardiac Arete (5.10d sport/alpine, 4 pitches); Public Enemy (5.10a sport, 1 pitch); Turtle Mountain (5.10b sport, 1 pitch). Any and all other suggestions would be helpful even if you can't climb those days. It would seem that the Outhouse Wall on Back of the Lake at Lake Louis will be a prime spot.
Hey Josh, I'm leaving Alaska right around the 1st and could possibly make it down to Banff by then. Might be a stretch though on timing it just right. Anyway, I'd be interested in the routes you listed, let's discuss. I'll send you a pm.
Any other locals or visitors who might be able to get on the rock on the 3rd? It may be difficult for Jeff to make a 39 hour drive in 48 hours! I'm not saying he can't, just that he shouldn't. We may climb on Sunday if he is available, but in the mean time, is there anyone else who might want to get the blood pumping on some stuff in the Lake Louise area or anywhere else?
