hello out there. I'll be out in the Sedona area in early November to hike the Grand Canyon. We are doing the rim to rim to rim. Curious as to temps to expect so I can pack accordingly? Also we will have a day at the end to hang around Sedona any moderate climbs anyone can suggest. Top rope would be preferable.

I was down there last November on a river trip. Rim temps ranged from mid 60s to mid 20's. Down in the canyon was warmer, but there were still plenty of 35-40 degree mornings, particularly in the shade. Afternoons in the bottom of the canyon felt like 50-70 depending on the day and sun position. There was only one night that I wished for a sleeping bag warmer than the 25f one that I packed. When in November are you going? We noticed a definite cooling trend as we pushed later into the month.

If you're hiking, and not in the water it will be pretty nice. I definitely recommend wearing pants because 9/10 things in the desert want to poke a hole in you.

Sedona top rope in November would be the Overlook's basalt. Hard to know where to set it up unless you know the route. Or find a tree on top and have at it.

Not a lot of moderates on Sedona sandstone you can top rope.

Mars Attacks goes at four pitches up to 5.8, although most people will say it's 5.9. Two pitches are sport, two are trad. Not a top rope, but a good intro to Sedona if you have the ability.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
