Anybody know what the deal is with the new Idarado 'no trespassing' signs??? I saw one at the Mine Boulders a couple weeks ago and apparently there's one on the trail to Pipeline Wall as well. Are these to be taken seriously? Or does anybody know if there's a reason they're all of a sudden being put up? Because I'd like to climb at Pipeline.....

Are you accessing from the top down by the start of the via ferrate? I was there about a month ago and didn't see any signs other than the ones about not entering the mine.

I've only actually seen the one at the boulders, like right at the switchback by the first boulder. Haven't been up at Pipeline, but heard there was a sign there too.

Nothing new that I've heard about. From my understanding those signs are mostly to keep people from parking at the mine boulders, which can be a choke point.

It is Idarado property and by posting they are protecting themselves a little. You get hurt and well, you were tresspassing. Be low key and courteous to any employees you may run into and you are fine.

Do High Motivation, it is great!

This was a great line that I got on by accident (MP doesn't have all the climbs at pipeline so we were all kinds of confused). If you can climb hard 10s it is sweet. Highly agree with Jon and highly recommend!

P.S. Be ready for the fun distance between bolts (which I liked a lot).

Excellent. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't because they're starting work in the area or had an issue with other climbers or something. I'll have to find someone I can follow on High Motivation! Leading run out high 10's is stretching it for my abilities...

Nick, if your not comfortable leading it there's a good alternative so you can session on it from a TR. If your facing the climb from the ground look left and around the corner of the climb, in a corner you'll find a climb called "rock cobbler 5.7" from there you can clip a couple of anchors and follow the ledge system back around to access the anchor for High Motivation. Drop a TR and pull to your hearts content! Have fun and enjoy!

Oh sweet thanks for the tip! Sounds like it would be a perfect toprope/ eventual lead. Hey if any of you guys are in the area and wanna climb around here let me know.. My wife's out of town for a few weeks so I'm partner-less

Knowing the area quite well, my speculation is that those signs are primarily being used to discourage visitors from accidentally thinking that those trails are hiking trails. For instance, at The Mine Boulders, many people mistake the climbing trails as being a trail up to Bridal Veil. People wandering through a maze of talus and mine debris creates some liability for the mine owners, since it is their land after all. I would imagine that there is a similar objective in dissuading people from venturing onto the trails leading to the Pipeline Wall. I'm not aware of any new access issues and the situation has dramatically improved from where it was at in the past.

However, since we are recreating on private land the usual guidelines apply:
1. Park well off the road and if the parking is full, park somewhere else.
2. Treat the area with respect and view it as a privilege and not a right. This includes picking up trash, tape, etc.
3. Be respectful to any mine workers you encounter.
4. Be friendly to any tourists you encounter and if they appear lost, make it clear that these are not hiking trails and point them in the right direction.

If these guidelines are followed, then the current access situation should continue for many years to come.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
