That is a fresh tattoo on his chest. No wonder he wanted his shirt off for the picture.

Most of us here were young men once and did a lot of dumb things without thinking (often in the hopes of impressing a lady with how badass we were). A mea culpa on Kaleb's part will go a long way.
Also who wants to get with a lady who is impressed with the 2nd flat iron???

Good for you NicholasCai!!!! As the sport gains popularity, the naive will inevitably come. We've all been young and needed guidance. No different here.

Side note: I would point out, you shoudld keep fresh ink masked off till its totally healed, and past that, SPF 50+.

Three of the culprits have active facebook accounts with multiple visible profile pictures:

(Nick, the site landlord, has removed personal links.)

Couldn't find "Fire Mike".

I saved a bunch of pictures from their facebook walls in case they deactivate their pages. Maybe someone else here is better at mirroring/saving webpages than me? Daily Camera has been alerted via this thread.¬if_t=group_comment_reply

UPDATE!!

Kaleb and his friends are aware of this thread.

This is Kaleb's message:

"Hey everyone. In the ignorance of me and my friends, we did not think sharpie would stay on the rock under weather. I have every intention of cleaning this up cooling this situation down. I apologize and will get it cleaned by tomorrow. I understand the anger, truly i do, but it seems there could be a better way to go about this than publicly shaming me and giving out all my personal information. Again. Everyone i am sorry for the action of me and my friends and i will make this right."

I still don't know how I feel about this being posted, even though it is publicly available information. What if an extremist decides to do something irrational?

Edit: Removed personal info ;)

And a Democrat too, how disappointing..

Might as well take down the personal info, especially now that he's apologized and pledged to clean it up

Apology accepted. I've done stupid things too - I think you owe the Flatiron some work.

If Kaleb reads this, I think he should organize all of his friends and do more than clean it up. For example volunteer a few days for trail-building or picking up trash.

You guys are old enough to know that "permanent markers" like Sharpies will last a while.

Make sure he uses the proper techniques and tools as to not damage the rock even further.

If he didn't want his personal information published, he should have thought twice about WRITING IT DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE FLATIRON.

Just saying...

I wonder what the Dean at the University would say/do?

Thanks for apologizing. Also recognize that the public shaming you received is better than having the authorities get involved. This is an area that people cherish and respect and want to continue to cherish and respect. You belittled that desire with what you did.

When your phone number and address were posted, that was inappropriate, yes, and I understand that it seems strange that you're getting shamed for this when at the same time, we celebrate people etching their names into rocks at the top of first ascents.

Just think before you do shit like that. Go tag walls in the city where it adds to the essence of the city. Do not tag places like the flat irons, where it takes away from the essence of the area.

Hey Dylan Grabowski, you might want to delete your post as well, it also has the guy's personal info :-)

CU is not a sh*t school. It is nationally ranked in many areas. Please spare the weed and drinking jokes. I just don't see why this would warrant a response from the Dean.

Anyway, sounds like he understands. Hopefully he cleans it and is able to inform others.

they are wearing school colors in the photo...some schools actually talk to their students, and the parents. Some parents would not fund a questionable youth unless amends/restitution were made...just off the top of my head.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
