There's a lot of missing and erroneous information on Keyhole, and has been for a long time. To improve this lack, we'd (we = myself and other members of 'Team Keyhole') like to fix that with a new guidebook. The book will be not-for-profit, with copies available as close to cost as we can make it.
We're collecting information for the following areas: Keyhole Canyon Knob Hill The Highlands Nelson Crags Pig Rock & Boyscout Canyon Goldstrike Hot Springs Two-Mile Hot Springs Arizona Hot Springs
If you have info on FAs, routes, other tidbits to share, please hop over to KeyholeCanyon.com.
I believe someone removed most of the bolts on most of the routes and several of the anchors as well a couple years ago. I'm told it was all in the name of trad and ethics. I only bring this up because more than once I've been out there and found paniced climbers thinking they had bolts so they brought quick draws and ended up in way over their head. I've also encoutered climbers looking for anchors which have been chopped too but lucky for them they did have a walk off option. Before you ask No I don't remember the routes because it's been a year or so since I've been out there. I'd suggest any guide book should indicate the removed bolts and anchors for the routes.

You are correct. Several years ago a handful of sport routes were rapped in over existing lines so the bolts got removed. Not the first time either. The tendency for this kind of thing to happen will definitely be mentioned in the guide book-- thanks for the suggestion! By including more info about the history and traditions at Keyhole in the guidebook, we hope to prevent this type of sandbagging in the future. Pretty much everything at Keyhole needs at least some gear.
