At some point last night, someone smashed the windows on our two vehicles with rocks and stole stuff. There were no vehicles at the parking area when we arrived and we saw no one else in the canyon. Leads me to believe someone drove all the way out there on that dirt road just to rob us. There was nothing visible in the vehicles if you looked through windows.

Pathetic douche rockets

Sorry to hear that. I never thought of the BV trail-head as particularly vulnerable spot.

Were you camped at the parking area and didn't hear them? Or were you camped somewhere up in BV canyon? Totally sucks. That is a lot of driving effort for someone to break into a car. And people are usually camped right there in or near their cars if spending the night at the parking area.

Did you report it to the police/BLM?

We had some trailhead break-ins a few years ago. Difference is, the trailheads were right next to the paved city roads. Police set up a sting operation and caught the sleazes.

Filed a police report. We were on Epi with a late start and night climbing. Came down because of rain, slept at base and then hiked out.

I'm guessing these douche nozzles aren't climbers because they left a brand new BD#6 and a rope.

My friend's car was broken in at the roadside parking in Calico not too long ago. Police didn't even care when my friend called despite hundreds of worth of stuff lost. mountainproject.com/scripts…

Yeah, police didn't care about our incident either. Half expected that though.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
