Marc I don't follow football but they gave up their non-profit status this year I believe.

Just to be clear, the proposed building site is on NH State Park land, not National Forest, though the NF surrounds the state owned strip in the notch.

On top of the horrible Highland Centre, they have the Mizpah hut a couple miles hike in from Crawford Notch.

We are so lucky that New Hampshire hung onto as much of the notches as they did.

And should keep it that way.

The petition is gaining some steam, could have 500 signatures by the end of day.

The State's open comment period ends on the 15th, emailing Johanna Lyons, State Parks Resources and Economic Development, and suggesting the range be extended for another 30-60 days would be worthy effort.

Also, as of earlier this week, the state has only received 62 comments regarding hut construction.

Creating the change.org petition was a real test on my internet savvy. Is there anyone who could start a Facebook page?

The open comment period ends on the 15th, I've sent emails requesting it be extended (a doubtful cause). The state will need to see numbers in the thousands, not hundreds. Although the petition could have 1000 signatures by the 15th, a FB page is likely to see many more "likes" in a very short period of time (the petition has had over 2000 views).

I'm ultimately hoping that an attorney or organization will become involved that will question the legality of everything as there are so many stipulations that must be bypassed before construction can occur.

I don't spend as much time in NH as I would like but after reading through this thread I'm totally opposed to a new hut. Signed.

But come on, wouldn't it be totally sweet to have something like this hanging off the side of Mt. Washington somewhere?! Or maybe they can use all the old rebar from attempting to save the Old Man to anchor a pod or two up on Cannon?!

The Harvard Hut is totally hanging on the side of Mount Washington and priced very reasonably.

We're still in need of a FB page. Anyone with an extra hour this evening? Your name needn't be attached..

Or...everyone interested...post the link on your Facebook page as I did and you'll reach more people because it will immediately be pushed to all of your Friends newsfeed.

The whites aren't the daks and its because of shit like this. If you cut up the daks and ran roads and amenities and all sorts of shit through it all piece-meal it would be the whites.

Jeez Louise!! Keene, Keene Valley and Lake Placid were slammed packed last weekend. That got everyone talking about the increase in people this year compared to years past. Build that shit in New Hampshire. The Adironadacks are too far of a drive and climbing's not worth the drive up from the city.
