Climbing Guide/Partner in CT for August
|
I grew up in CT. But only recently just started climbing now that I live in California. Been climbing for about 4-5 months in the gym, 3 times a week. And I hired a guide to do some Trad climbing in Tahoe a month or so ago. I'm climbing 5.10c in the gym but on real rock I've only tried 5.7-5.9. But it was pretty awesome! I'll be back in CT August 14-31 and wanted to get out on some real rock again. |

Thanks! |

I second Matt Shove! |
|
He's been difficult to get in touch with. Any other recommendations in case I can't book him? |

GO TO THE GUNKS, or get in touch. . . with other climbers, I hear they meet indoors 1st. |
|
I think Matt's in tetons right now. I'd recommend you go up to NH and hire Marc Chauvin. |

The Connecticut chapter of the AMC does an after work climb every Thursday at different crags around CT, which I'm sure you would be welcome to join. The Berkshire Chapter does a similar climb on Wednesday evenings at a couple of areas in western Mass. Both also do weekend trips to the Gunks and other areas, though there is a little more screening to join those outings. Trips are either free or have very minimal fees. |

Yes Matt Shove is in the Tetons. Good recommendation to hookup with the AMC. You can contact them through FaceBook. |

If you can make it a few hours west to the ADK then I'd look up Ian Osteyee. |

Thanks guys. I'm still a beginner. So I'm a little weary climbing with random people who I either don't know or who don't have an established guide service. If I lived in the area and hooked up with some people long-term, that'd be different. But since I'm in the area for a few days and wanted to climb, I figure hiring a guide is the best option. |

Got ahold of Mr. Shove. Thanks, peeps. |
