BEAVERTON, Ore., August 6, 2015 – NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) today announced the launch of their 2016 recreational footwear line. Following market trends the 2016 line-up will feature hiking and climbing footwear. For continuing operations, strong demand for NIKE, Inc. brands propelled double-digit revenue growth on a currency neutral basis, and diluted earnings per share grew faster than revenue due to gross margin expansion, a lower tax rate and a lower average share count.

"Our team delivered strong results in Q3. We did it with a relentless flow of innovation into our key categories," said Mark Parker, President and CEO of NIKE, Inc. "Given the diversity of our portfolio, we're able to capture big opportunities that drive sustainable, profitable growth. At the same time we continue to invest in new ways to enhance athletic performance, build strong consumer communities, and improve how we design and manufacture our products. That’s how we increase our potential and drive shareholder value."

Nike has to find growth somewhere now that every kid playing Rec, JV or varsity ball wants to rock Under Armor.

I for one welcome our sporty overlords.

Did Nike buy out a climbing shoe company (like adidas/five ten)?

haha ain't that the truth right there!!!

And why would they enter the climbing market when they couldn't even make it in snowboarding. Go from a sport where people actually would rock their gear to a totally niche market? Sounds like time for a change in the marketing departing.

As long as the rubber sticks and they fit my feet, I'll give em a try...

seems highly improbable. nike also recently made a run at surfing (way larger market share) only to back off.

Pretty sure Josh is trolling everybody. Concept shoes from some kid probably in fashion school: Nike Free Climb

If this was real then it would be posted on their press release site:

And it is not there...

Or they can end up like montrail.

"The other innovation is the Flyknit Racer, featherlight shoes that feel more like a sock atop a sole. By taking a wilted cod piece and applying it to our classic waffle last we are able to create the softest, most sensitivest shoe on the market."

The future is now

I for one welcome the fact that I have been skillfully trolled.

A quick google reverse image search shows that the black shoe image used does not exist anywhere else on the interwebs. To ruin the joke (sorry) Josh made it himself, and made a press-release so chock full of corporate press-release buzzwordiness as to make it so dumb as to be believable.

Hats off to you, good sir. You had me hook, line, and sinker at the initial post.

And to Jake Jones: that would be sarcasm. See here: knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-fo…
