Greetings:

The Eldo trail crew is working at Rincon, restoring/rebuilding the stairs and structures from the base of Aerospace to the base of Kaisho. We've had a few weeks to split a lot of rock and get our rigging systems in the air and tuned, now we're looking for volunteers to help.

More details (and sign up) can be found at:

eventbrite.com/e/rincon-reh…

Here's some of the work accomplished so far:

This is some of the fun:

Hope to see you out there!

PS - if there's anyone looking for a brutal Monday morning workout, there's always gear to carry up at the beginning of the work week. We'd love the help, and you'd be done by 7am. PM or email if interested.

Best

Bump.

Bad news/good news

The Bad: Over the weekend, someone broke into our gear cache. They didn't steal much (maybe an old aluminum hardhat), but threw stuff everywhere and damaged a few things. If you were in the Over the Hill area this weekend and saw/heard something, PM me or drop a line. Not interested in pursuing it, just curious about who'd do something that weird.

The Good: We're making some sweet progress on the steps there - got the very bottom steps (below Aerospace) and supporting structures locked in today.

Steps to the left of rock, wall on the right. Here it is, rock in the middle for you.

Thanks Jean-Paul, Chris, Bonnie, Heidi, Bryan for excellent volunteering.

If you'd like to come sling some rocks with us, drink coffee, and tell bad jokes, please do:

Work is going quite well, and we're looking for volunteers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays through the rest of August. We're pretty much finished restoring the steps cliffside, and are going to start building a sweeeeeet descent trail from the Over the Hill walkoff ledge.

C'mon, now, this is your chance to give back to Eldo. It's ridiculously fun, and the hike to Rincon and a day (or more!) of wrasslin' rocks will get you on track to send like a beast this fall. (A summer of working with these young brutes and I'm a sub-200 pound beefcake for the first time in a decade - imagine what you could do!)

The Eldo staff is a great group of climber-positive people. Also remember that Eldo is state funded and doesn't get the big budget like the OSMP properties (e.g. Flatirons). You wouldn't know it based on the quality of the trails thanks to the hard work of Mike and crew.

I put in ~120 volunteer hours with Eldo over 2 years (while still working a full-time job and still climbing a ton); you can spare a day. Please help out.

Is it possible any of that gear smelled like peanut butter? My money is on the chipmunks. I've been amazed at the rock-pile-buried tupperware they've managed to break into.

They threw a 10-lb sledge about 75 feet down the talus slope.

Which is a pretty routine weight/distance for an Eldo chipmunk. Good call.

Hey:

We've done oodles at West Rincon, and are busy building stone stairs from the crag up to the walkoff.

Spiffy new stairs.

From the very end of September until the end of October, we'll be building. We need volunteers Monday-Thursday, 8am-2pm. There's a little flexibility in that just in case you need to go cragging after - climbing in October at Rincon is good livin'.

Hi, everybody.

It's looking very much like we could complete the west Rincon descent stairs this year. If you're available to volunteer for a day (or even part of one - PM me), we'd be very grateful for the help.

Here's the linky-linky for signing up:

Rob & Tom are going strong on stairs, and there's a lot of wall to be built.

Hope to see you out there.
