I don't have a problem with fees as long as they go back into the canyon to help fund the FS maintenance backlog, continued mining reclamation, ecological studies, transit service, trail system improvements, etc. That's enough reason to pay the fee or buy a pass at AF even though I don't have to.:) Not to say that fees are a given via Mountain Accord. |

I welcome any help that might keep the riff raff out of LCC. Charlie, how about you catch Frontrunner, I'll pick you up at Central, and we go clean a few tags before climbing some pitches?Maybe it's my inner rebel but I always have problems with fees. There's a significant difference between a toll to "disincentivize" and a toll to support the lands. One requires a business case to show what and where dollars are needed. The other lines someone's unknown pockets. I'm up for crag cleanup. I participated this year down in LCC and that was rewarding. I'm not sure what the solution is to keep the riff-raff out. But it's unfortunate that the actions of a few dictate the environment for the rest. (What's new, right?) |

Thanks for volunteering and submitting comments. The SLCA has an unprecedented 6 Adopt-a-Crags lined up this year among other volunteer opportunities. We've put a lot of work in with the FS and BLM towards these tangible outcomes via the NEPA process in most cases. It's not always those with the most money that can navigate NEPA. Sometimes organization and persistence win the day. |

Any ideas how this will play into the Mountain Accord's process? |

This is a FS action, separate from Mountain Accord. It is essentially a parking pass at the 10 sites that have the 6 amenities necessary to charge a fee based on recent, legal precedent. They can't charge for parking at any one of hundreds of dirt pull outs in the three, fee areas. We'll have to see how they handle over flow parking adjacent the fee sites. |
