Ganglion cyst removal
|
Anyone here had a ganglion cyst removed in their hand and had a good experience with the doctor? I'm having some troubles finding a quality doctor to remove mine. Any recommendations for a doctor in Colorado? Denver area is closest to me but not opposed to driving. Had one doctor quote me 10 days recovery with a 90% success rate but had some problems with insurance and am not covered there now. I believe he removed it arthroscopically. |

Ganglion cysts in general have a high rate of recurrence. You're better off just whacking it with a heavy book than paying a doctor |

Cut that shit out yourself! 'merica! |

I've had a couple in my hands that went away on their own without any treatment. Is yours causing pain or affecting mobility? If not, maybe just leave it alone. Why do you want it removed? Unsightly? |

I had one come and go for 5 years. Whacked it with a book twice. Came back both times. I had the surgery 3 years ago and it was the best decision ever. It will probably come back at some point but I'm going strong. |

Book method not recommended. Try any of the hand docs at Panorama Ortho in Golden. This is not a complicated surgery do I doubt there will be much difference in outcome between docs |

SMASH IT! |

I certainly wouldn't recommend this but I had a ganglion cyst. I was framing a shed and I looked down at my framing hammer, looked at my cyst and smashed it. That was 3 years ago and it hasn't come back. Don't do what I did. Yer gonna die!!! |

I once had one form on the inside( inferior) of my ring finger. I left it alone.....it went away all on its own. |

Hey John Tex, |

Just some interesting input: A climbing partner had Ganglion cysts in her wrists for years. About two years ago she was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, not good news. Last winter she had her Thymus gland removed. Within 90 days a SIGNIFICANT number of changes happened throughout nearly every system in her body to include all three of her Ganglion cysts completely disappearing for the first time in a decade. Very interesting indeed! |

I had a ganglion cyst removed from the back of my left wrist. It had gotten very large in a short time period, and was significantly hampering my climbing. I first tried getting it punctured twice, which was not effective. The surgery was done by a hand specialist in Seattle, it went well and I recovered pretty fast. Definitely not 10 days though, that seems absurd (though my surgery was not arthroscopic, maybe that's very different). I probably went 3 months without climbing, which was fine because I scheduled the surgery for November in Seattle and I was skiing all winter. I had this done maybe 5 years ago, no recurrence, no problems. |
