Our last high pressure day of the century!!!! Route was GOOD TO GO!! Still a bit of snow at the base but the sun hits around 7 HAVE FUN! |
|
Two parties on Birds of Fire today... looked mostly dry with perhaps a bit of moisture high up. I'm sure someone else can confirm or deny this. The Barb was a party line today! Hell yes for this high pressure system! |

On Birds of Fire.
We were the only party on Birds of Fire today. Perfect dry conditions on the climb! |

Anyone been up or down the Cables route on Longs recently who can comment on conditions? |

T.L. Kushner wrote:any word on conditions down in the crestones? hoping to do ellingwood ledges in about a week and was wondering if anyone on here had been out that way yet this season.Climbed The Prow this morning. Most the rock routes down there are in great shape I think. |

Emil Briggs wrote:Anyone been up or down the Cables route on Longs recently who can comment on conditions? Not recently, I did it about a week and half ago. It was wet with a thin layer of verglas early in the morning. Snow field above the class 5 portion still required an ice axe and traction to cross comfortably. Looking at the webcam right now, there's still a bit of snow left, so I'd expect the route to be wet still from the snowmelt. Longs Peak webcam |

Any need for crampons on the snow field getting into the North Chimney? |
|
Scotty Nelson wrote:Any need for crampons on the snow field getting into the North Chimney?Nope, firm but kickable. A nut tool or rock may be helpful. |

Scotty Nelson wrote:Any need for crampons on the snow field getting into the North Chimney?FYI if you follow Eli @ climbinglife guides on FB looks like they had substantial (car sized) rockfall there this weekend on NFC. |

Sorry the F was a quick keystroke error. :o) |

I said tennis shoes, and then I got slammed on here! But I'll stick with that suggestion unless you're totally incompetent at walking like those who slammed me. |

At this point in the season I think you're right that approach shoes would be ideal in the N. Chimney. No need to bring up yesterday's news about getting slammed though. |

Can anyone comment on the Lamb's slide snow conditions? |
|
chris391 wrote:Can anyone comment on the Lamb's slide snow conditions?Still pretty good as of 8/7. I would think it will be good for at least another week or two. One might still be able to ski it if they had really, really sharp edges. Elise on Lamb's Slide. |

Andy - thanks for the photo and beta. |

Great conditions on the Black Wall on Evans today. Cary Granite is bone dry. Didn't climb anything else, but that section of the wall looked fine! |
|
Has anyone been up Sharkstooth lately? I'm wondering about conditions in the Gash. |
