I'm i Florida. Do you have some ideas for successful treatment?

Unfortunately my Doc is in Colorado and is really good...he's of the opinion that anything that works is OK with him..PT, surgery, accupressure..anything

I have been having good luck with the MELT method..but i didn't have transposition surgery, just the "clean out" with a lot of junk in there.

Thanks, John. Yes, it's too bad I don't live closer. What kind of doctor is he?

ortho..only from the elbow down. he also does a fair amount of climbing and is young, both of which i think helps understand this issue better.

Hi everyone!
I am not a climber but I too have been diagnosed with CBT and am trying to find the best solution. I have had numbness in both fingers for a number of years now, no pain, and just recently muscle weakness. I noticed I don't have the strength, to turn the key in the ignition. Has anyone had success without surgery?

Doc sent me to do an MRI. The lab tech confirmed multiple cervical disc bulges. might be the disc bulges are compressing the nerve. I will find out tonight after my doc appointment.

Reading between the lines of Revelations, this is the procedure Jerry Moffat had for his elbow problems. He seemed to do OK.

maybe... problems can also come from the shoulder/rotator cuff. Since the ulnar is so long, it can result in problems all over the arm.

Never heard of cervical problems, but who knows. I'm about 6 months out from surgery w/o issues

I had submuscular ulnar nerve surgery 3 months ago and it's been a miracle for me. Numbness is gone and I'm almost back to 100% in strength. Still a little bit to go before I hop up and start repping out pull ups. Hopefully in a few weeks. I signed up at ulnarnervetransposition.com to see ideas on rehabbing my strength and that has truly helped a ton. Overall, I'm glad I finally got the surgery and I'm back in the gym!

Hi All! I'm not a climber but need to have submuscular ulnar nerve transposition surgery. I've gotten a 2nd opinion and both surgeons agree on the surgery, but differ in opinion on the recovery. One says I'll need to have my arm in a splint for 4 weeks, and then physical therapy after that. The other says he would only have me in a splint for 1 week and would want to get me into physical therapy right away. He said the fear is that the nerve may scar if it is splinted for 1 month. For those of you who had the submuscular surgery, how long were you in a splint? Any thoughts on this? I am going to see the first surgeon (who told me 4 weeks) next Fri. to ask more questions, but am trying to do my research before seeing him. Thanks!

I didn't have the transposition but..8 days splinted up and then get going. I bet maybe a bit more for transposition though.. 4 weeks sounds like a long time ?

I had the trifecta: cubital tunnel release, submuscular ulnar nerve transposiition and tendon work done 2 years ago. Prior to deciding to cut, I did 3 years of PT, cortisone and PRP injections. It worked for 1 elbow, but not the other. After surgery it took ~ 15months to climb back through the grades. Where I still notice weakness is on enduro cupped hands & laybacking...oh, and lead-head:/ It was a scary choice for sure, but am so happy that I finally did it. My only regret was not doing it earlier. Best wishes for you on your recovery!

Found this forum while researching Cubital Tunnel for my daughter in her mid 40s. She has had pain in the elbow and tingling in the last 2 fingers on the left for over 3 years, and the right ide started about a year ago. She's tried PT, steroid injections, PRP, meds with no permanent relief. Meds not working because she has high sensitivity and gets side effects before the meds have had a chance to take effect (within 1-2 weeks) Unable to use either arm much beyond a few minutes before tingling starts, she loves the outdoors and hates being limited and unable to bike, kayak etc. . EMG, X-rays MRIs fine, but an arthrogram showed some damage on one side (medial epicondylitis)  and ultrasound showed some subluxation of ulnar nerve on the other elbow

She is fed up and ready for getting this fixed once and for all, but I wanted to make sure we have exhausted all options before going for the drastic step of surgery. She lives in Ohio and has seen a couple of surgeons but not found someone she wants to go with. One recommended submuscular, the other said anterior transposition. A third one said the success rate of surgery for both medial epicondylitis and ulnar transposition is very low! The amount of information is both overwhelming and lacking consistency and  reliability  at the same time

Any recommendations based on personal experience for surgeons with high rate of  successful procedures? She might be willing to travel for the right doctor. Also find difference of opinion on length and protocol for rehab - one said 1-2 weeks, another said 3-4. Sine its both elbows, a gap of 4-6 weeks between surgeries..does this sound reasonable based on your experiences?

Very old thread I discovered while researching, but I was curious if anyone could offer some advice for cubital tunnel. My story is a little different than others that I've read, being that I experienced no symptoms before...I just woke up one morning and couldn't feel my hand. The first few days, all of my fingers were uncontrollably twitching, including my forearm. Aggressively twitching. The claw formed that same day. Its been a month, and my symptoms seem to be progressing every day..numbness has been constant since I woke up that day. I can't button my pants or hold a water bottle my fingers are so weak. Haven't been able to open my hand up for at least a couple weeks. I'm not sure why mine happened overnight and seems to be progressing daily, but I just scheduled decompression surgery. The neurologist told me I would be getting transposition surgery, but the orthopedist scheduled me for simple decompression. Any experiences with both? Success/failures? I really don't want to have 2 surgeries incase decomp doesn't work, just looking for some testimonials of maybe a s similar situation.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
