Disrespecting The Long Climb

It must be the summer of feces for me. While climbing the Long Climb yesterday me and my friends unfortuneatly came across two separate incidents of human feces in the climbing path. The first was near the roof on pitch 3 where I literally had to put my hands 6 inches from it (one unlucky climber had already stepped in it) and the 2nd place was on the belay for pitch 4 next to the fir tree. This is so incredibly disrespectful for not only the other climbers on the route but the environment as well. On pitch 4 there was 30 other places you could've went but you chose to go right on the tree that everyone has to belay from, throwing toilet paper all over the ledge and forcing us to sit next to it for over an hour as we a had 3 man team. It boggles my mind how anyone could be so inconsiderate. This is a long climb hence the name, you may be on the rock for 4-8 hours, climbers need to be aware of this and plan accordingly, if you ate McDonald's for breakfast please bring a human waste bag along with you and be prepared to pack out your mess. This is surprisingly easy and sanitary! Forcing your fellow climbers to suffer through your "accident" is not right.

-Also to the team of climbers on the maiden who were constantly kicking rocks down on us and not saying anything for the first 2 pitches learn some etiquette you almost killed my friend.

Sad about your experience on the Long Climb with human waste! Thankfully you and your partner dodge that rock fall, my partner and I were climbing Whodunit (2nd party) and witness that large rock flying down and landing close to climbers...BECAREFUL WITH LOOSE ROCK!

I was one of hands partners on the journey, thankfully the climb is epic enough the poop was short lived but the rock fall! You can't just drop a block and not say anything come one now

I'm doing the LC on July 26. I'll bring a trashbag and a garden shovel. Hope it's gone by then but if not we'll take care of it.
If your the one that did this your an ahole!

Comment on the route from July 2nd

"2 sizable dumps with accompanying toilet paper at (or shortly before) the second and 4th belay ledges. A few days old as of the 4th. If you're expecting multiple dumps and bringing up TP, you can bring up bag to pack it out. And really, pooping right on a belay ledge?"

It's impressive how many people struggle with the simple concept of LEAVE NO TRACE. HUMAN SHIT IS A TRACE. I'm sorry that someone's inconsiderable actions caused such a great climb to be ruined. People are stupid man.

that sucks man. I've done this route twice now but it has been a few years. I do remember many other places said climber couldve walked to instead of shit right next to the tree. I wonder how his partner was dealing with it while he was shitting literally right next to him.

Hey Jan I ran into you with my friend Lori while we were doing Human Fright back in April of this year...How you been?

My only guess is he was not the climber maybe the climber brought a friend who never been outdoors and the belayer took a crap while the climber was at the next ledge off belay.....Per speculation here..I'm going next week with some tools to clean it up but after this weekend it might be a gross mess up there with all the showers we are supposed to get this weekend.

Yea! How's it going Jeff. Lifes been really good on my part. Getting out a lot with the wife. We just came back from Lovers Leap few days ago...I don't think I've been back to tahquitz since we saw you last. anyways do you still keep in touch with Lori. She wrote her info down on a piece of paper and I promised I'd shoot her a text but I think it blew in the wind when I lifted my pack.

Well all the rain we're having now should wash all that poop down

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
