Accident Fume Wall

Hi All,

Was involved in an accident at Fume Wall in Durango today. I was belaying my partner on Psycho Billy Cadillac when a large block came detached from the rock face. My partner fell around 15'. I caught the fall and thankfully only took a shot to the leg from the debris. The block came off at about chest to head height and unfortunately my partner got pretty beat up during the fall and had to be taken out by paramedics.

There are still at least three draws hanging on the route. Please don't steal them and if you happen to get up there before I or another have had a chance and you want to help out by retrieving and returning that would be appreciated, PM me if so.

To the party climbing next to us, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Paul

I think you're in luck.

Were you using an auto lock or an ATC to belay? I've changed to a gri gri for lead belay for this reason. I have never had an experience like this but understand the possibility. Its unfortunate that we have to learn from others misfortune. My most sincere thoughts. Hope everything turns out well for you and your partner.

Sorry dude... I know you were looking forward trolling your ball sack off.
